Shouldn’t we remember more than one model’s name (and face) at this point? How exactly are models being assigned this season? Some designers seem to be keeping the same girl, but most are going through model roulette. Justin is having some trouble with his glue. Part of the top is complete, but that’s it. At least there’s one person he won’t be a jackass to! At the end of the workday, Bradon is frantic and has no dress. We learn that Ken has bonded with Justin. The shredded technique is pretty exquisite, like a fashion-forward moth. Helen is running around wearing her fabric like a cape. Congrats, Project Runway, it only took you six episodes. Note that this is actually the first individual mentoring session shown for Ken. Helen: Is doing the shredded layer technique that didn’t quite work out in episode 2.Jeremy shows Tim bright yellow, red and blue which he intends to use for overlaid shapes. Jeremy: We don’t see any of the calligraphy fabric yet.Was he looking at algae? Tim is unconvinced and says it must fit perfectly. Ken: He is using heavy wool in red, green and white – is it Christmas already? He says the folds at the neckline were inspired by water ripples.If shorts that look like a skirt is a skort, than is a pant with an ankle-level crotch called a skant? She’s also making – ugh – drop-crotch pants with the crotch all the way to the ankles. Alexandria: She’s “reinventing” the denim jacket.The dress itself looks something like a folded umbrella. Bradon: Tim is distracted by the thread-painting and thinks it looks like a child’s drawing.Alexander: His aim is to create trees with textures, but right now there’s just a fitted navy dress on the form.Justin: Tim is similarly amazed by the glue lace technique.Tim says she’s not taking it far enough “boring” is what he means but isn’t saying. Karen: She’s going for vintage safari.This is seriously amazing and has incredible potential. Justin is making lace out of glue gun material. Though we must admit, calling her a tiger seems more like a compliment – tigers are Fierce & Fashionable! Ken decides now that everyone is friendly it’s time to throw an insult at Alexandria. Bradon is doing a technique he calls “thread painting” by running multiple lines of embroidery all over his fabric. In the workroom, Jeremy is painting calligraphy on his fabric – it’s a love letter written to his family. Meanwhile, the designers bond over relaxation, rafting, and zip lining. Suggested budget of $300, and this is a one-day challenge once they return from the outing. Tim tells the designers they should take inspiration from their experience and the natural surroundings. Lest we think this is simply much-needed stress relief, the name-dropping bottled water company sends spokesperson Seona Skwara with Tim to announce the challenge.
